Add and edit cards

Cards are the building blocks of your guide. Add one from a suggestion or pick any type from the full list, fill it out, save your work, and publish to your screens.

Your guide is built out of individual cards. You might have one card for your Wi-Fi, another for checkout times, and several more for your favorite neighborhood restaurants. You manage all of them from the Content page.

Add a card

  1. Go to the Content page in your dashboard.
  2. Choose what you want to add:
    • A suggestion. Bienvue highlights the questions guests ask most often, such as "The wifi name and password" or "What time to be out". When you click a suggestion, Bienvue automatically adds the right card type to the matching section, creating that section for you if it does not exist yet. Check What guests ask next for more ideas. If a suggestion does not fit your place, just click Dismiss suggestion.
    • Any card type. Select Browse all card types to see every option available. See Card types for a complete list.
  3. Fill out the card fields. Helpful text explains what each box does, and empty fields will automatically fall back to sensible default wording.
  4. Select Save card.
  5. When you are ready for guests to see your work, select Publish. See Publish your changes.

Saving keeps your changes safe in the dashboard, but publishing is what actually pushes them to your TV screens and guest phone guides. As the dashboard reminds you, "Changes will not appear on screens until saved and published."

How a card shows on the TV

Each card can have up to three layers, which are labeled in the card editor:

  • Card row: the quick summary guests see while browsing through a section.
  • Preview panel: the spotlight preview that appears when a guest hovers over the card.
  • Detail view: the full screen that opens when a guest clicks the card. You can turn this off by selecting Disable detail view if your card is short and sweet, like a quick reminder note.

Edit, move or delete a card

  • Edit: click any card on the Content page, make your updates, and select Save card.
  • Move: click the card's action menu to select Move up or Move down, or assign it to a different Section.
  • Delete: select Delete card. Keep in mind that deleting cannot be undone, though the card will remain on your screens until the next time you publish.

If you ever try to leave a card with unsaved changes, Bienvue will ask to make sure you do not lose your work by accident. Choosing Revert wipes away any edits you have not saved yet.

If it doesn't work

  • A card doesn't show on the TV: double-check whether you published. The Publish button lights up at the top of the screen whenever you have unpublished updates waiting.
  • "Add a section first": every card needs a home inside a section. Add a section manually, or pick a suggestion to let Bienvue create the section for you. Take a look at Sections.
