Pair a TV

Install Bienvue on a Roku, then enter the six-character code it shows, from your phone or from the Devices page, to put your guide on that TV.

Pairing links a physical TV to your property so it displays your custom welcome guide. The process takes about a minute, and you will never need to hunt and peck passwords using an awkward TV remote.

Before you start

  • A Roku TV or Roku streaming player. On your Roku device, search for Bienvue and install the app from the Roku Channel Store.
  • A paid plan, or the free trial. TV screens are available on paid subscriptions. If you are currently on the free plan when you pair your screen, Bienvue will offer to start your 14-day free trial first.

Pair it

  1. Open the Bienvue app on your TV. The screen displays a six-character pairing code alongside a QR code.
  2. Connect your device using either of these two methods:
    • Scan the QR code with your smartphone camera. If you do not have a Bienvue account yet, you can sign up on the spot.
    • From your dashboard, navigate to Devices, select Add a device, and type in the six-character code.
  3. Select which property the TV belongs to, or create a new property name.
  4. Give the TV a friendly nickname, such as "Downstairs TV" or "Bunk room", so you can easily identify it on the Devices page.
  5. Select Add screen. Within a minute or two, your TV will begin displaying your published guide.

How many screens you can have

Each residential property on a paid plan can have up to 5 screens. A hotel can pair up to 2 screens for each room included in its plan. Your Devices page keeps track of screen usage for you, showing indicators like "3 of 5 screens". If your setup needs more screens, write to support@bienvue.com.

Keep the guide on screen

By default, Roku devices exit to their own home menu after sitting idle for several hours without remote activity. If that happens, arriving guests will see the Roku interface rather than your welcome guide. You can keep your guide on screen all the time by opening Settings on your Roku, selecting Network, and turning off the Bandwidth Saver setting.

If it doesn't work

  • "This pairing code has expired": pairing codes remain active for 15 minutes. Exit and reopen Bienvue on the TV to generate a fresh code.
  • "We couldn't find that pairing code": check the characters on the TV screen and try again. Bienvue never uses letters and numbers that look identical (such as the letter O and zero 0, or uppercase I and the number 1), so check for simple typos.
  • "This screen is linked to another account": the TV was recently unpaired from another user's account and remains temporarily reserved to them. Ask the prior owner to remove it from their account, or reach out to support@bienvue.com if you purchased the television second-hand.
  • The property has all of its screens: remove an unused screen from the Devices page to make room for a new one, or contact support if you need a higher limit.
  • A hotel asks you to choose its rooms in Billing first: because hotel screen allowances are calculated per room, set your room count on the Billing page before attempting to pair.
  • The TV still shows the pairing code after you added it: wait a minute or two for the connection to finalize. If the TV does not appear on your Devices page, the pairing did not complete, so try pairing once more with the code currently on screen.
